Schools

OEDSI works to enhance the objectives of current school curricula by creating real time science projects, in depth use of technology and the possibility to use our program in interdisciplinary approaches within traditional subject areas. Although we primarily connect with science educators who are interested in our program for a component of an Environmental Science unit, the cultural, historical, philosophical, creative and analytical elements of the way that we approach sustainable issues are useful in all subject areas and can easily be incorporated into Language and Arts programs, Mathematical application, History units and Technology.

OEDSI not only works within individual schools, but provides a communication platform between schools on a regional, national and international level. We do this by providing the necessary skills and support for students and teachers to disseminate their projects to one another using OEDSI’s basic methodologies and innovative technology.

Our program:
~ Provides a way for classrooms to connect with scientists working on sustainability projects in real time.
~ Helps students and teachers create their own sustainable projects within their schools and local communities.
~ Helps students and teachers disseminate their projects to other schools in order to educate and facilitate in ways which help and encourage other schools to initiate their own sustainability projects.
~ Builds regional, national and international relationships between teachers, students and scientists that can lead to a more wholesome approach to our local and global communities and how we affect our environment.
